Street Art Museum is a response action where city spaces used as a canvas. The aim is to revitalise spaces and connect public administrations, housing corporations, funding bodies, residents and graffiti writers. Main motivation is to engage with a wide range of people in the society, as well as to generate artworks that can be accessed anytime and for free. The Street Art Museum in Amsterdam is a successful practice in this case. For the museum they invite graffiti artists from around the world to create a collection showing the evolution of graffiti styles. Up to today they created over thirty artworks spread through four km of Amsterdam streets. The collection brings daily visitors to the area and the local businesses benefit from additional income brought in by these visitors. These spaces are mentioned frequently in the local and/or international press. The artists are commissioned and therefore paid for the work they do. There are also guided tours showing these areas.
